Jay Alexander joined PAL in November 2014 after spending the last 17 years as Head Baseball Coach at Eastern Michigan University and Wayne State University. Jay served on the rules committee for all of college baseball, All-American committee and he was North Central Regional Chair.
Jay Alexander is a proven leader with a history of developing student-athletes to reach their full potential. He has produced Major League baseball draft picks and Academic All-Americans in his tenure. He was one of three African American Head Baseball Coaches in the country excluding Historical Black Institutions.
Alexander has played, coached and worked in Detroit PAL. He returns to PAL in a different capacity working with the Development team. He served an integral role in the past having raised large amounts of funds to help off-set budgets, rebuild and add to projects.
Among his accomplishments are being named coach of the year twice, having over 300 wins, being selected to coach with Team USA TOS, selected to speak at the National College Baseball Convention in front of 5,000 of his peers and fund raising to update and rebuild facilities for his teams.
Jay’s hobbies include golfing, working out and hanging with his family (wife Kia, daughter Ryleigh and son Carter). He is also a proud member of Big Brother Big Sister.
