Equipment Donation

The equipment to help kids succeed
There are many ways you can help Detroit PAL in making a difference. We’re always looking for equipment to help our teams take the field.

All donations of new and used equipment are extremely valuable to us.  However, due to the volume of teams and games in our leagues, most of our sports require equipment of a high level of quality to be used in games.  Any equipment not meeting this standard will be used for team practice or given out for our players to practice with at home.

Here is a list of our current needs, along with equipment requirements for league use:

General Items

  • Practice and warm-up gear is always appreciated, especially in performance materials such as Under Armour.
  • Cleats are generally needed for all sports.
  • We cannot accept trophy donations.  Please contact local schools regarding used trophies.

Baseball

  • T-Balls: Any RIF 1 ball is acceptable for game use or practice, Wilson A1217 balls are preferred
  • 10u Rec: Any RIF 5 ball is acceptable for game use or practice
  • 10u-14u Competitive: Wilson A1074 balls are preferred, any hardball labeled for league use is acceptable
  • High School: Wilson A1010 balls are preferred, any hardball labeled for HS league play is acceptable
  • Balls that say “recreational use” will be given away for practice
  • Bats may be gently used but not more than 1-2 years old because bat safety standards change so frequently.
  • Catchers’ Equipment: Gently used hockey style or other one-piece masks are appreciated, as well as chest protectors and shin guards not more than 3-4 years old
  • Other Equipment: Gently used gloves and cleats are extremely helpful. Helmets, coaches and bat bags, bases, practice gear, training equipment and uniform items are appreciated

Basketball

  • 16u, 14u, 12u, Varsity, JV: Any high quality, new, indoor 29.5” basketball
  • 10u, Motor, Girls: Any high quality, new, indoor 28.5” basketball
  • 8u: Any high quality, new indoor 27” basketball
  • Little Hoopers: Any high quality, new indoor/outdoor 27” basketball
  • Rubber, “outdoor” or “indoor/outdoor” basketballs can only be given away for practice.
  • Other Equipment: Gently used basketball shoes in youth sizes are very appreciated

Cheer

  • Gently used uniforms
  • Gently used shoes

Football

  • Balls: New or gently used footballs of all sizes will be given out for practice
  • Other Equipment: cleats, shoulder pads, girdle pads, helmets and other equipment are appreciated
  • Uniforms: gently used uniform items are greatly appreciated including practice gear

Golf
No used golf equipment is needed at this time. However, volunteers interested in serving as instructors would be greatly appreciated. Please contact us for volunteer opportunities.

Soccer

  • Balls: New, high quality size 3, 4 and 5 soccer balls may be used for games
  • Practice Balls: Gently used 3, 4 and 5 soccer balls may be used for practice
  • Other Gear: Gently used cleats, shin guards and uniform items are also appreciated

Softball

  • 11u: Wilson A9074 balls are preferred, any yellow 11” ball labeled for league play is acceptable
  • 14u & HS: Wilson A9011 balls are preferred, any yellow 12” ball labeled for HS league play is acceptable

  • Gently used shoes, hurdles, batons, rakes, shovels and starting blocks are appreciated

Volleyball

  • Balls: New Tachikara competition volleyballs in blue and white are preferred for game use.
  • Gently used indoor balls will be given out for practice
  • Knee pads, shoes and other gear is helpful.
