The 13th annual Paul W. Smith Golf Classic took place on Monday, August 8. The golf classic is the largest single fundraiser for Detroit PAL and has raised $5.7 million for the kids of Detroit since it began 13 years ago.
It was a beautiful day for golf at the Detroit Golf Club! Sunshine greeted all of our sponsors and golfers as they made their way to the course. After a full day of golf, everyone was treated to a great band, a performance by the Detroit PAL Dazzlers, dinner, awards, and a program that ended with a check presentation for $500,000!
We would like to thank Paul W. Smith, WJR, and their entire team for helping make this fundraiser a reality year after year. They work hard year-round to ensure that this event is a success and that Detroit PAL has the funds necessary to provide character-building programming to over 12,000 youth in Detroit.
None of this would be possible without our sponsors! Special thanks goes out to WJR, Ford Motor Co., Detroit Golf Club, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, DTE Energy Foundation, FCA Foundation, General Motors and Toyota Motor Sales USA Inc. for all of your support of this amazing event.
Additionally we would like to thank: Delta Airlines, Bridgestone, Diez Group, Quicken Loans, Van Conway & Partners, Meijer, Suburban Collection, Star Lincoln, FirstMerit Bank, FOX 2 and Campbell Marketing and Communications Team. AAA, Aisin, Borg Warner, Charity Motors, Coca-Cola Co., Crain Communications, DADA, Duffey Petrosky, Farm Bureau Insurance, Filson, Flex-N-Gate, GTB, Huntington Bank, IAC Group, Ilitch Holdings, ITC, Kenwal Steel, Luna Entertainment, Mahindra, Marathon Petroleum Co., Michigan Association of Counties, Plunkett Cooney, PNC Bank, PwC, Shinola, Snethkamp Auto Group, Starfire Investment Advisors, Parade Company, Ufer Group and UHY.
The support for the Paul W. Smith Golf Classic, as always, was overwhelming. We were able to raise $500,000 for the boys and girls who participate in Detroit PAL programs. This event helps PAL change lives through athletic, academic, and leadership development programs.
Once again, thank you to Paul W. Smith and all of the sponsors and donors who make this event successful year after year. For more pictures from the event, please visit our Facebook page here.
