In its second year, Detroit PAL’s Girls Empowerment Workshop sponsored by Chrysler was held as the Sterling Stamping Plant in Sterling Heights, MI. The event was geared to inspire girls ages 13 to 17 years old who play Detroit PAL sports. Throughout the event 50 girls heard from women who are high level executives within the Chrysler Corporation who spoke about their challenges trying to succeed in a male driven atmosphere. They spoke about reaching their goals and how to never give up even through the most challenging times. In addition, the girls also created vision boards to display what’s important and how to accomplish their goals for the future. The video features Dana Cooper, Community Partnerships Coordinator for Detroit PAL; Tia Canty, Business Strategist for Chrysler Corporation; Whitney Moore, Communications for Chrysler Corporation; Leshawn English, President of UAW Local 1264 and Lance Shwartz, Plant Manager for Sterling Stamping Plant.
