Organization of the Year and Coach of the Year Awards
Championship trophies weren’t the only awards handed out on Saturday. Detroit PAL also handed out the awards for Organization of the Year and Coach of the Year, each of which are based on sportsmanship and voted on by the league’s presidents. The Organization of the Year award went to the Diehl Boys & Girls Club Spartans. In addition to the award, they also receive a brand new set of uniforms. John Johnson of the Matrix Center Lakers was honored as Coach of the Year and was presented with a custom Detroit PAL varsity jacket.
More than 40 kids who are aging out of the program were honored on Saturday, as well. They all received certificates thanking them for their time, commitment and effort to Detroit PAL House Basketball.
“It was a great day for house basketball,” said Associate Athletic Director Chris Clough. “It was a really rewarding day for the kids.”
