Detroit PAL was thankful to participate in the seventh annual Detroit Tigers’ Kids Opening Day again this year! The event, by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, allows kids from different youth organizations around Metro Detroit to come down to a Detroit Tigers game and do warm ups on the field! It is designed to engage young Tigers fans and get them active.
Our group of young baseball players had a blast doing the on field activities, which included jumping jacks, stretches, sit ups and more. They were lead by PAWS and members of the Detroit Tigers crew. After the warm ups, each participant was given a free healthy lunch and backpack full of Tigers goodies, like trading cards and cheering signs!
PAL’s kids had the special opportunity to watch the Tigers take on the Cleveland Indians from their very own suite! Thanks to the Detroit Tigers Foundation for giving them that special gift! It was a beautiful day for a ball game and an extra special way to experience it.
After the game ended, every child had the opportunity to go down on the field again to run the bases just like the pros. For some of these kids, it was there very first Tigers game, and what a day it was!
Thank you to the Detroit Tigers and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan for giving our kids the chance to attend this great event again this year!
