Etiquette and Life Skills Training for Young Women

November 24, 2014

November 8, 2014 Detroit PAL and Scarlet Communications hosted an etiquette training class that was as beneficial as it was intriguing.  Roughly 35 young women between the ages of 8-17 that attended the training class was afforded the chance to gain knowledge to last a lifetime!

Held at the Detroit PAL headquarters, from 9 am-2 pm, the Etiquette and Life Skills Training was comprised of two sessions.  The first session was for 8-12 years old girls and the second session was for 13-17 young women.  This training was not your average run of the mill class session. This exciting event spotlighted grooming, dining, social networking and communications etiquette.  The young women were able to gain knowledge that will benefit them now and throughout their life.  With Jacqueline Baker as speaker and hands on learning techniques the young women who attended this event was left with unique, useful experiences.

Detroit PAL staffer Ramona Cox said, “The feedback was very positive.  For the next event we expect to have even more girls attend.  These events are very useful for the girls.”In a time where reality TV starlets are sometimes seen as the model for women standards, etiquette training classes such as this one is necessary.  To give young women a chance to understand positive images of women should be priority.

Detroit PAL would like to thank all those who attended and Scarlet Communications for their endless work in improving and directing the younger generation.  To see more pictures from this event, please visit our Flickr page.
