Detroit PAL was very excited to host a Financial Literacy workshop on Saturday, April 22. The workshop was sponsored and run by Comerica Bank. We appreciate their support in making this very important workshop a reality!
More than 25 kids, ages 13-18, attended the workshop. They spent their day learning new tools and information about:
- Setting and reaching financial goals
- How to track their spending
- How to assess their income and expenses
- How to start saving
- How to bank/safety tips for banking
The entire workshop was very interactive and high energy, as the participants were given the chance to role play and actually put themselves in different financial scenarios. The overall goal of the exercise was to have a financial plan and execute that plan.
Detroit PAL was excited to see that the survey results from the workshop showed that the kids learned a lot of new and useful information and greatly benefitted from the open discussion at the end of the workshop.
Thank you so much Comerica Bank for putting on such a great, informative workshop for PAL’s youth participants. We hope to host more financial literacy workshops throughout the year! Stay tuned to our website and social media for any updates.
