Girls Basketball Championships

December 19, 2016

The Girls Basketball Championships took place on Friday, December 9th at Chandler Park High School. The event got started with the Junior Varsity Division: DEPSA vs. CPA. While both teams fought extremely hard to the very end, DEPSA came out victorious and took home the JV Title. However, not only was CPA the JV Runner Up team, they were also named Organization of the Year! The girls from CPA decided to work together on community service projects during the season. The team partnered up with Forgotten Harvest during the year and helped served food to those in need during the holiday season.

Following the JV Division Championships, special awards were given to teams and coaches that went above and beyond this year. The winners were:

Academic Team of the Year: Bradford Academy with a cumulative 3.5 GPA
Sportsmanship team of the Year as voted by their peers: DEPSA
Organization of the Year: CPA
Coach of the Year: Coach Michael Williams of Ludington (9-1 record)

Following the awards, the Varsity teams had a chance to get warmed up for their Championship game. This game would be DEPSA vs. Ludington. Both teams worked extremely hard and left everything on the court. In the end, Ludington took home the victory by a score of 51-38.

Congratulations to all of our Champions and Runner-Ups! We hope you all had a great season and we look forward to a great season in 2017. To see more pictures from the Girls Basketball Championships, please click here.
