If you wanted a display of the talent and teamwork in the house basketball program, the All Star Game was the place to be! The House Basketball All Star Game took place on Sunday, March 15 at Detroit Edison Public School Academy High School (DEPSA). Players from all over the PAL house league came out to participate in four different games.
The kids were broken up into two teams for each age group; the green team and the black team. Each game was full of excitement and continuous displays of sportsmanship and teamwork! During the half time for each game, a skills competition took place. The kids competed in events such as a free throw competition or a 3-point shoot off. The packed crowd really got into the skills competition, cheering on every participant. The results of the all star games are as follows:
8 & Under: Green – 8 Black – 3
10 & Under: Green – 18 Black – 11
12 & Under: Green – 33 Black – 27
14 & Under: Black – 39 Green – 38
Next up was the All League Team Award Recognition. The All League Team is the highest individual honor for a player participating in the Detroit PAL basketball program. Players are nominated by their coaches and then selected for the honor by exemplifying Detroit PAL’s core values, having excellent grades, and displaying leadership qualities on and off the court.
This year, 14 athletes were honored during the on-court ceremony. Each member of this year’s All League Team received brand new Nike and Adidas basketball socks as well as a certificate of their achievement. Detroit PAL is honored to present this year’s All League Team members:
Christopher Kyles Jr.
Jamar Horride Jr.
Congratulations to all of the athletes who participated in the House Basketball All Star Game! It was a great presentation of the talent and teamwork behind the house basketball program. For more information about Detroit PAL’s basketball programs, please contact Chris Clough at email@example.com.
