The 2017 Detroit PAL House Basketball Program is underway! The league, which is sponsored by the Detroit Pistons, had more than 1,400 participants last year between the boys recreational league, Little Hoopers program, and various basketball camps.

Detroit PAL partnered with the Detroit Pistons and the Detroit Recreation Department in 2016 to expand the House Basketball Program. The generous donation of $300,000 from the Detroit Pistons has been instrumental in expanding all of our basketball programming and we look forward to having even more basketball participants in 2017!

“We’re pleased to partKT3_8943ner with Detroit PAL in creating a recreation basketball league that will impact thousands of youngsters in the Detroit community,” said PS&E Vice Chairman Arn Tellem, according to the Detroit Pistons website. “Basketball and sports can serve as a great unifying force that creates opportunity and promotes youth achievement. We support Detroit PAL’s efforts to in building strong communities through sport.”

Little Hoopers gets started on February 25th at locations around Detroit. This program, for boys and girls ages 4-6, teaches kids the fundamentals of basketball in a fun environment. The participants will work on skills such as dribbling the ball, passing, and shooting. The goal is to learn about basketball, but more importantly, to have fun!
