NASCAR Champion Jimmie Johnson Visits PAL

July 20, 2017

Young NASCAR fans had a great time meeting 7 time NASCAR Champion Jimmie Johnson at Boysville on Thursday, July 13th. Jimmie was in Detroit promoting the upcoming Pure Michigan 400 at Michigan International Speedway on August 13th. He started his day at a Michigan State Police Post, before joining PAL at Boysville, and finishing the day doing a Slow Roll through the city.

The team at Michigan International Speedway brought a stock car down to Boysville for the kids to see when they arrived. They were all excited to see the car and take pictures with it!

He also talked to the kids about how he started racing at the age of 5, why he has to stay fit to be able to race, and how Michigan is one of his favorite places to race!unnamed (1)

Jimmie was able to take pictures with all of the kids, sign autographs, and answer all of their questions about his exciting career.

Towards the end of the event, Rick Brenner, Michigan International Speedway Track President, surprised the Detroit PAL staff with a donation of $1,000 to help us continue our work in the city of Detroit.

Thank you Michigan International Speedway and Jimmie Johnson for visiting PAL kids!
