Next Monday, August 8th, is the Paul W. Smith Golf Classic! The Paul W. Smith Golf Classic is the single largest fundraiser for Detroit PAL and provides nearly 20% of our annual operating income. To date, the Golf Classic has netted nearly $4.5 million.
Tournament proceeds help Detroit PAL positively impact more than 12,000 children each year through athletic, academic and leadership development programs.
Paul W. Smith, an award-winning member of the Broadcast Hall of Fame, is key to the event’s success. His personal commitment and active role with the sponsors helps drive net proceeds. Members of Detroit PAL Board of Directors presented Paul W. Smith with a check for over $14,000 made up of personal contributions and representing 100% participation. Paul W. Smith and his wife Kim Smith attended a thank you luncheon earlier in July.
Individuals can support the event by becoming a Paul’s PAL.
This year two companies have announced matches for Paul’s PAL’s contributions. The Detroit Auto Dealers is matching the first $25,000 and last week Farm Bureau Insurance announced a $10,000 match. That’s an additional $35,000 for Detroit PAL kids throughout Detroit!
A $100 donation to Paul’s’ PALs ensures one season of activity for one Detroit PAL youth. And for less than $21/month donation, a child can get an entire year of Detroit PAL programming.
You can make a contribution of any amount up to the tournament on August 8th.
Thank you so much to Paul W. Smith and his team for helping us raise money for the kids of Detroit PAL! We appreciate your hard work and dedication to this very important cause and look forward to another successful outing on August 8th.
