The U.S. Soccer Foundation’s Soccer for Success program has officially begun thanks to our supporter, the W.K. Kellogg Foundation! The program began today in 18 schools around the city of Detroit and will run for 12 weeks.
The program not only teaches kids the fundamentals of soccer, but also about creating healthy eating habits. “It’s an awesome program,” says Karla Ramos, site administrator at Roberto Clemente, “It’s more than just providing soccer to underprivileged kids. We teach them to eat better, exercise and live a healthier life.”
The program also requires students to have good grades and good attendance, further echoing the fundamentals of overall well-being for these kids. “I love this program,” said Unique Hayes, a Soccer for Success team captain, “It helps me to be a good soccer player, stay fit and teaches me how to eat healthy.”
