Detroit PAL is extremely proud of the thousands of youth we serve each year through our athletic and leadership programs. To demonstrate our support of young people throughout Metro Detroit, we created the Detroit PAL Youth of the Year program to showcase one of our outstanding youth who has participated in our athletic programs for three or more years. The Youth of the Year will attend Detroit PAL events throughout the 2014-2015 school year, and will receive a scholarship for post high school education. In addition, he or she will be highlighted on our website and in our monthly newsletter. This opportunity will allow our Youth of the Year to enhance his or her public speaking skills, talk about experiences with our programs, and allow him or her to be exposed to new and exciting opportunities with Detroit PAL.
“I’ve really enjoyed being the Youth of the Year,” said 2013 Youth of the Year, Rashad Williams. “It’s been a lot of work, but even more fun. I’ve had the opportunity to experience a lot of new things and meet a ton of cool people. I would’ve never thought doing well in school and sports could be so rewarding.”
Applications for the 2014 Youth of the Year are now open! The application deadline is June 13, 2014, so we encourage you to submit your application as soon as possible.
