Coach Joel Snyder
As a coach, many try to make their team their family. That is definitely the case with Coach Joel Snyder of the West 7 Rams.
“We are a family that cares,” said Joel, “People want to know how much you care. We have our ups and downs like a real family, but we still stand together no matter what!” This kind of mentality has lead the West 7 Rams to be successful year after year in the Detroit PAL Football League. This year, the West 7 Rams 10U team was successful on the national level as well, winning a National Title at the United Youth Football League National Championships in Florida.
The Rams prepared for the national game the same way they prepare for every game; they teach the basics and watch film on their opponents. Joel, who has been coaching basketball and football for PAL for 13 years, grew up playing for PAL and returned to spread his knowledge as a coach. He tries to stress to his athletics to always work together as a team and to give 100% no matter what the circumstance.
Joel works as a Behavior Coordinator in a school and is a family man, so he has a lot on his plate, but he never gives up on these kids! “My favorite part about being a mentor is when you see your reach and help a young man when he was going down the wrong road,” said Joel. PAL helped keep him off the streets as a kid, and now it’s him helping the kids do the same thing. He makes sure his players are putting their school work first because they all need to be successful student-athletes. All players must be doing well in school in order to play on their team.
His hard work on and off the field is definitely making a difference in these kids’ lives. Congratulations to Coach Joel Snyder and the West 7 Rams on your National Championship win!
