Coach Marc Strong
Marc Strong has been coaching for the Southwest Aztecs 10U Rookie team with Detroit PAL for two years. He got involved in coaching as a way to give back to the community where he was raised. Marc grew up in Southwest Detroit, graduated from Detroit Western, and even had his first baseball-playing experiences with Detroit PAL when he was nine years old.
Marc tries to make a difference in the youth he coaches by showing them that everything is not given to you and you must work and earn things in life. Goals are achieved through hard work.
The entire Southwest Aztecs organization works together and is like a family. Coach Strong remembers reading a Vince Lombardi book when he was younger that taught him about teamwork.
“The achievements of an organization are the results of the combined effort of each individual.” – Vince Lombardi.
Marc’s team is made up of a unique blend of ethnicities, genders, and baseball talent, but all together they become something special. This atmosphere is no doubt the reason that several of his former players now coach within the organization, giving back to the next generation of players.
The 10U Rookie team is a great place to learn the fundamentals of baseball. However, it is also a place to for kids to see that athletics can help you in other areas of life.
“I want my team to see more of their own futures beyond athletics,” said Coach Marc Strong, “Education is the key, but being an athlete can help condition them to achieve all their goals with mental toughness through adversity.”
Coach Marc Strong and the Southwest Aztec Organization are definitely making a difference in Southwest
