Time management is very important for all student athletes. They must balance their time and energy to keep up with school, studying, their homework, practices, and games! It’s a lot for our young athletes to handle, but Cecilia Galindez is a pro! She is keeping up with school as well as playing softball, volleyball, basketball and soccer!
The 7th grader at Hope of Detroit Academy likes all four sports equally and even enjoys other hobbies, such as knitting, CYO (Catholic Youth Organization) and going to church. Her mother notes that since being involved in PAL, her time management and multi-tasking skills have greatly improved. “We make sure to remind and push homework as soon as we get home,” said Leticia, Cecilia’s mother, “She stays on us with practice reminders and hates to miss.”
Cecilia’s favorite part about playing sports and being a part of a team is being with her friends. They always make sure to support each other, win or lose. “I support my team by lifting them up when they didn’t do so well,” said Cecilia. That, along with her coaches teaching them to keep trying and to keep their heads up, makes Cecilia and her friends such a great team. All of Cecilia’s hard work paid off last year, when her volleyball team came in 2nd place at the volleyball tournament!
The 12-year-old multi-sport student athlete’s favorite school subject is Social Studies and she wants to continue with sports through coaching whenever she is done playing! What a great way to pass on the skills and knowledge she has learned through her years of playing sports through PAL!
