Monica DeJesus joins the Detroit PAL team as the new Chief Development Officer with more than 25 years of nonprofit philanthropic experience in fundraising, partnership development and nonprofit management. At Detroit PAL, she will oversee fund development as well as marketing and communications.

Prior to this role, DeJesus served as Senior Development Officer for the SME Education Foundation, where she was responsible for advancing the mission of the foundation by fostering strong relationships with public and private sector  and generating philanthropic support from individuals, corporations and foundations. DeJesus has also served as Senior Vice President of Development for The Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History and led corporate and foundation partnership activities for the American Red Cross, in both its North Central Division and Southeastern Michigan Regional Chapter.

“It is my passion to serve nonprofits by helping secure the funds that further their missions,” said DeJesus. “Detroit PAL offers such important programming for our local youth, and it is my privilege to help our donors see the impact of their support with our young men and women.

DeJesus is a member of Inforum; she also served as a past board member of the American Lung Association’s Local Leadership Board. In addition, she was a past member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals’ mentorship program, the Michigan Nonprofit Association Emerging Leaders Class IX and the Professional Club Marketing Association.

Born and raised in the city of Detroit, DeJesus now resides in Van Buren Township with her husband and three children. Monica first came to know of Detroit PAL when her son joined a PAL basketball clinic. This PAL program helped lead him to his love of sports, but also taught him about teamwork, confidence, respect, and more. Monica believes that every child should have the opportunity to be a part of something that can truly bring meaning to their lives, which is why she is so excited to be a part of a team making that happen.
