Character-Building Programs & Volunteers
From the start, a key element of Detroit PAL’s mission has been to build character in young people through various athletic, academic and leadership development programs. We’re able to work toward achieving this mission through thoughtful program development and thorough volunteer training. Our programs are carefully designed to be effective tools for delivering our message of developing high character in our participants. All of our volunteers complete a very rigorous training program before they are able to work with our kids and families. The training program involves annual coaches training, background checks, and constant monitoring to ensure proper execution of our core values. From program administrators to volunteers, our entire staff is dedicated to delivering the very best for our kids!
Parent Involvement Makes a Difference
Parents play a huge role in the success we all want for every kid. We encourage parents to get involved by supporting the volunteers and partnering with us to add consistency to our character building programs. Taking some time to meet the coach, get to know other parents, or help the team or program in any way you can will illustrate the importance of community engagement to your child. We always welcome parent input and suggestions to help us continue to improve, so please get in touch with any questions or ideas you may have.
Achieving Global Outcomes Together
Detroit PAL works diligently to achieve three global outcomes in youth: kids of high character, kids who make good choices and lead healthy and active lifestyles, and kids who are civically responsible and “give back.” These global outcomes are top of mind in everything we do, and they drive our passion to provide wide-ranging opportunities for all participants. We consistently develop kids of high character that display teamwork, superior sportsmanship, discipline and perseverance. We celebrate much more than athletic achievements and strive to teach life lessons. Knowing that leading a healthy and active lifestyle can be a challenge, Detroit PAL provides not only safe physical activities, but education on nutrition as well.
