Making a positive difference in the lives of Detroit’s children
Detroit PAL is a non-profit organization positively impacting the lives of more than 10,000 children each year. With roots dating back to 1969, our group works to create safe and supportive places for kids to play. We also train more than 1,500 volunteers each year to become encouraging mentors to the city’s youth.
In partnership with the Detroit Police Department and community volunteers, Detroit PAL builds character in young people through athletic, academic and leadership development programs.
Detroit PAL is chiefly focused on creating youth sport leagues. The organization runs traditional recreation programming in a variety of sports, including baseball, softball, track and field, soccer, football, cheerleading, basketball and a volleyball league exclusively for girls. In addition, Detroit PAL fields several travel teams in five sports with each squad made up of the strongest on-field leaders.
